On 14 March 2023, H.E. Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, led a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy to pay a courtesy call upon H.E. Mr. Ly Thuch, Senior Minister, President of the National Committee for ESCAP, and First Vice President of the Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), on the occasion of assuming his position.

Both sides welcomed the close relations between the two countries and expressed commitment to continue supporting and cooperating with each other to achieve the mine-free Cambodia in 2025 and mine-free Thailand in 2026 for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples. The discussion focused on the humanitarian demining along Thai-Cambodian borders following the instruction by the Prime Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia on 10 November 2022 to pursue the humanitarian demining without waiting for the demarcation work, to make the border areas safe for development and peoples. Prior to the call, H.E. Mr. Ly Thuch led the Thai Ambassador and the delegation to visit CMAA’s Database Unit and briefed about the history of mine clearance in Cambodia, CMAA’s accomplishment and plan for achieving Mine-Free Cambodia in 2025.
