The Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia pays a farewell call on the Prime Minister of Cambodia, reaffirming the cordial ties in all areas, paving the way towards advancing Thailand - Cambodia Strategic Partnership.

On 19 September 2024, H.E. Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, paid a farewell call on Samdech Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, on the occasion of the completion of his tenure.

During the meeting, the Ambassador commended the Prime Minister’s leadership in driving forward the country, while conducting a smooth political transition, as well as in revitalizing Cambodia's economy after the COVID-19. The Ambassador also emphasized that Thailand-Cambodia relations have advanced in all dimensions, from the leaders to the people-to-people relations. He expressed the Thai government’s intention to further enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Key issues discussed included accelerating trade and investment between business sectors of both countries, seamless connectivity, particularly in rail linkages, promoting tourism under the “Two Kingdoms, One Destination” policy, facilitating cross-border movements, and development cooperation, especially human resource development, to bring the peoples of both countries closer together. The protection of Thai nationals in Cambodia and the joint efforts to tackle transnational issues of online scams and drug smuggling were also discussed.

Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador for his dedicated efforts in promoting and strengthening Thailand-Cambodia relations in all dimensions. He urged continued cooperation in enhancing this special relationship, which is now at a very positive track, towards a strategic partnership. The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of facilitating trade and investment through infrastructure development and linking the complementary economic zones to boost cross-border trade and connect supply chains. He also supported joint tourism promotion, particularly encouraging the private sectors to explore new areas of cooperation.

On this occasion, Samdech Hun Manet, the Prime Minister of Cambodia, on behalf of the Royal Government of Cambodia, conferred the Medal of “The Royal Order of Saha Metrei Grand-Cross” upon H.E. Chredkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand, in recognition of his dedication and outstanding contributions to strengthening diplomatic, political, and economic relations between Thailand and Cambodia.
