On 23 August 2022, H.E. Mr. Panyarak POOLTHUP, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, led a delegation comprising officials of the Embassy and the Thai private companies to visit Kampong Chheuteal Institute of Technology (KCIT) under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia in Kampong Thom Province, in order to follow up on the development of KCIT and carry out a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity for KCIT and local communities in the area. Also present at the visit were H.E. Dr. Sann Vathana, Under Secretary of State, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Mr. Pech Seang, Director of KCIT.
Starting its operation in 2005, Kampong Chheuteal Institute of Technology (KCIT) under Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Education Project to the Kingdom of Cambodia has provided the local people, particularly the young generation in the areas, with education opportunities at certificate, diploma, and bachelor’s degree levels. Over the years, KCIT has also served as a foundation for subsequent activities that promote people-to-people connections, and good cooperation between administrative entities and private sectors of the two countries. In addition, Her Royal Highness has also been providing full-funding scholarships known as “the Royal Scholarships” that offer the young generation of Cambodia equal education opportunities as Her Royal Highness believes that education is the best cure for poverty.
As the main coordinator of the Royal Projects in Cambodia, the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh has worked to support and strengthen KCIT in various forms, all of which are implemented under the Royal Project Agreement Graciously Bestowed to the Kingdom of Cambodia in the Field of Education between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the Development of Kampong Chheuteal Institute of Technology and Kampong Speu Institute of Technology signed between the two countries in September 2020.
The visit to KCIT and the CSR activity serve as a symbol of friendship between the peoples of Thailand and Cambodia and for all those involved in the activity to carry forward the aspiration of Her Royal Highness to enhance an equal and quality education system for the young generation of Cambodia, which will play a key role in driving the country towards sustainable development.
