Dear all,

 

As the New Year is just around the corner, may I, on behalf of the Royal Thai Embassy, extend my very warm greetings and best wishes for a happy and prosperous new year to all Friends of Thailand and the Thai community in Cambodia.

 

I am delighted that the bilateral relations between our two Kingdoms have gone from strength to strength in 2019. Regular high-level visits and meetings have further enhanced our mutual understanding and cooperation.
We have worked tirelessly to make our 800-kilometre long border peaceful and buoyant as both Thailand and Cambodia take peace and stability as the essence of our enduring bonds. The trade volume between the two countries has increased and surpassed USD 9 billion this year. People-to-people exchanges have also been
on the rise, from several hundreds of thousands of two-way tourists to over a million Cambodian labour working
in Thailand. Development assistance on education, public health, and agriculture provided by Thailand
to Cambodia has been creating positive impacts on the lives of many Cambodian people.

 

Not only is this festive season the time when we reflect on what has transpired during the past year, but it is also the time when we learn from those achievements and strive to do even better in the upcoming year.
I certainly have no intention to rest on our laurels, and my dedication to elevating our excellent bilateral ties
to a higher plane through mutual trust, mutual benefits, and mutual cooperation remains unwavering, especially when the year 2020 will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Thai-Cambodian diplomatic relations. To commemorate this auspicious occasion, the Royal Thai Embassy will organise a wide range of activities throughout the year, ranging from a photo contest in which Cambodians and Thais from all walks of life can
take part, to a concert that will highlight Thai-Cambodian friendship through melodies, to the ground-breaking ceremonies of various buildings that are the gifts from the Thai people to the Cambodian people, among other projects. Royal scholarships that have empowered Cambodian young generation for many years will also continue to be provided as we believe in the power of the youth.

 

Indeed, 2019 has been a successful year. Nevertheless, 2020 will definitely be a momentous one. I wish you all
a very Happy New Year 2020!
