During 15 - 17 July 2019, Dr. Krissanapong Kirtikara, Chairman of the Princess Maha Chakri Awards Foundation (PMCAF) and PMCAF committee members visited Mr. Loy Virak, Grade 12 Physics Teacher who has been selected by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Kingdom of Cambodia to be nominated as the Cambodian recipient of the 2019 Princess Maha Chakri Award, observed Mr. Loy Virak's class at Roleapha Ear School, Kampong Chhnang and also exchanged views with the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports of the Kingdom of Cambodia on teachers' capacity building which will lead to quality education and human resource development.
On this occasion, the PMCA committee members, Mr. Loy Virak, and 2 Cambodian recipients of the Princess Maha Chakri Awards: Mrs. Tauch Bundaul, in 2015, and Mrs. Dy Sophorn, in 2017; paid a courtesy call on Mr. Panyarak Poolthup, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Kingdom of Cambodia, and met with the Thai private sector in Cambodia at the Royal Thai Embassy in Phnom Penh to explore ways that the Thai private sector in Cambodia can assist in the teachers' capacity building which will lead to developing and strengthening of the Cambodian students' skills.
The Princess Maha Chakri Award is given to outstanding teachers from 11 countries, members of ASEAN and Timor Leste since 2015. The awards are given once every 2 years and this is the 3rd time. Thailand believes that human resource development is the foundation of the country's sustainable development. Recognizing the effort and devotion of teachers by awarding the Princess Maha Chakri Awards and conducting activities that support the teachers' work will result in quality education and human resource development which will be the strength of the country's development.
