The Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia and the Consul-General-Designate to Siem Reap participated in a meeting to enhance relations and mutual understanding between Thailand and Cambodia, specifically between Sa Kaeo Province in Thailand and Banteay Meanchey Province in Cambodia. The meeting aimed to advance the Thailand-Cambodia relationship toward a strategic partnership.
H.E. Mr. Chirdkiat Atthakor, Ambassador of Thailand to Cambodia, and Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Consul-General-Designate of Thailand to Siem Reap, attended the meeting, which was co-chaired by Mr. Parinya Phothisat, Governor of Sa Keao Province, and Mr. Ngor Meng Chruon, Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey. The meeting was attended by key government officials at the provincial level from both sides.
Governor Parinya Phothisat noted that Sa Kaeo and Banteay Meanchey share a common border, and the people of both provinces have maintained strong, friendly relations, supporting each other and cooperating to resolve issues that might affect their relations. The Deputy Governor of Banteay Meanchey expressed gratitude to Sa Kaeo for their assistance in resolving issues in the past, especially for their prompt response during a recent fire incident near yhe border. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful border and mutual assistance.
The Thai Ambassador emphasized that the relations between Thailand and Cambodia are currently at an exceptionally strong level and is moving towards becoming a strategic partnership. Thailand places great importance on developing the border areas together, linking economic zones through infrastructure connectivity such as road and rail connections, and enhancing connectivity between the special economic zones of both countries. This includes the upcoming opening of the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge and the Nong Ian–Stung Bot border crossing between Sa Kaeo and Banteay Meanchey. The Ambassador also expressed hope for further development of rail connections in the future.
In 2025, as Thailand and Cambodia celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations, a series of activities will be organized throughout the year to jointly commemorate this milestone. This includes the official opening of the new consulate-general in Siem Reap and the official inauguration of the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge.
The Consul-General-Designate of Thailand to Siem Reap announced the official opening of the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Siem Reap on 6th August,2024, which reflects the cordial ties between Thailand and Cambodia in all dimensions and at all levels. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Siem Reap is tasked to protect and promote the interests of Thai citizens in Cambodia and processing visas for Cambodians. The Royal Thai Consulate-General will be fully operational once the office building is completed in early 2025. It will also work to further strengthen people-to-people relations between the two nations, particularly in the eight Cambodian provinces under its jurisdiction.
During the meeting, the bilateral discussions also involved the preparation for the joint opening of the Thai-Cambodian Friendship Bridge (Nong Ian-Stung Bot) border crossing, to ensure smooth cross-border operation, facilitate the movement of patients, and support seasonal agricultural Cambodian labor to enter to Thailand.

ក្នុងឆ្នាំ 2025 ខាងមុខនេះ នឹងមានការប្រារព្ធខួបលើកទី 75 នៃទំនាក់ទំនងការទូតរវាងប្រទេសថៃ - កម្ពុជា នឹងមានការរៀបចំកម្មវិធីរួមគ្នាពេញមួយឆ្នាំដើម្បីអបអរសាទរ ។ ក្នុងនោះផងដែរ អាចរួមបញ្ចូលទាំងការសម្ពោធស្ថានអគ្គកុងស៊ុលទាំងពីរប្រទេស និងការសម្ពោធជាផ្លូវការស្ពានមិត្តភាពកម្ពុជា-ថៃផងដែរ។
អគ្គកុងស៊ុលថៃប្រចាំខេត្តសៀមរាប បានប្រកាសបើកដំណើរការជាផ្លូវការនៃស្ថានអគ្គកុងស៊ុលថៃប្រចាំខេត្តសៀមរាប នៅថ្ងៃទី 6 ខែ សីហា ឆ្នាំ 2024 ដែលជាសមិទ្ធផលដ៏ប្រពៃឆ្លុះបញ្ចាំងពីទំនាក់ទំនងដ៏ល្អរវាងប្រទេសថៃ និងកម្ពុជាលើគ្រប់វិស័យ និងគ្រប់កម្រិត។ ដោយស្ថានអគ្គកុងស៊ុលថៃប្រចាំខេត្តសៀមរាប មានភារកិច្ចការពារ និងលើកកម្ពស់ផលប្រយោជន៍ប្រជាពលរដ្ឋថៃនៅកម្ពុជា និងដំណើរការទិដ្ឋាការសម្រាប់ពលរដ្ឋកម្ពុជា។ ស្ថានអគ្គកុងស៊ុលថៃនឹងបើកដំណើរការនៅពេលដែលអាគារការិយាល័យត្រូវបានសាងសង់រួចជាស្ថាពរនៅដើមឆ្នាំ 2025 ហើយក៏នឹងដើរតួនាទីក្នុងការពង្រឹងទំនាក់ទំនងរវាងប្រជាជន ទាំងពីរអោយកាន់តែរឹងមាំ ជាពិសេសខេត្តទាំង 8 របស់កម្ពុជាដែលស្ថានអគ្គកុងស៊ុលទទួលខុសត្រូវ ។
ក្នុងកិច្ចប្រជុំនេះ ក៏មានការពិភាក្សាលើការរៀបចំការបើកច្រកព្រំដែនរួមគ្នានៃស្ពានមិត្តភាពកម្ពុជា-ថៃ (ណងអៀន-ស្ទឹងបត់) ដើម្បីអោយការធ្វើដំណើរឆ្លងកាត់ព្រំដែនប្រព្រឹត្តទៅបានយ៉ាងសមស្រប សម្រួលដល់ឆ្លងដែនរវាងប្រទេសទាំងពីរ ការបញ្ជូនអ្នកជំងឺ និងពលករនៃវិស័យកសិកម្មផងដែរ ។
